Abstract
Summary
Organ cultures of spleen, lymph nodes and thymus, maintained on the surface of agar, were shown to retain the antibody-producing function for periods of time exceeding those previously reported. The long-term synthetic process requires the presence of normal serum. Such cultures continued to produce antibodies whose synthetic process was initiated in vivo and also manifested clear-cut secondary responses upon stimulation in vitro.
