Synthesis of RNA and DNA at Various Intervals After Erythropoietin Injection in Transfused Mice

Summary

Uptake of 5³H uridine in 5 minutes into spleen RNA increases within 2 hours after EP injection and remains high for 60 hours. ³H thymidine uptake in spleen DNA begins 12 hours after EP injection, shows 2 maxima at 24 and 48 hours and drops to control levels by 60 hours. Control experiments using EP inactivated by mild acid hydrolysis suggest that these effects are specific for EP.
