Abstract
Summary
Ethanolamine-1,2-C14 was readily metabolized by the rat, rat tissue slices, and rat tissue homogenates. Over 50% of the administered ethanolamine-1,2-C14 was incorporated into the lipid fraction and 11% was oxidized to C14O2 by the intact rat in an 8-hour period. Ethanolamine oxidation was decreased by vitamin B6 deficiency but not by thiamine deficiency. Glycolaldehyde was not detected as an intermediate in ethanolamine oxidation in rat tissue preparations.
