Abstract
Summary
In 19 healthy natives living at high altitude, the 24-hour urine excretion of glucuronic acid before and after ingestion of 4 g of salicylamide was measured. No significant difference was found in the amount of salicylamide glucuronide excreted by the subjects of this group when compared with the amounts excreted by a control group.
Our results are compared with the work of other authors and the probable mechanisms of this indirect hyperbilirubinemia are discussed.
