Summary
Chloramphenicol, in concentrations found in patients under treatment with the drug, markedly inhibited the growth of the McCoy strain of human cells in culture. The growth inhibition was not overcome by L-phenylalanine in amounts up to approximately 100 times the growth inhibitory concentration of chloramphenicol.
