Abstract
Summary
1. Mitochondrial fractions obtained from spleen cells were found to be potent transplantation antigens. 2. No anti-genic activity was detected in a) spleen, liver, or kidney cell sap; b) kidney mitochondria and microsomes. 3. Minimal antigenic activity was associated with liver mitochondria. 4. Exposure of spleen microsomes to RNAase did not affect their antigenic activity. 5. Brief exposure of spleen microsomes to ultrasound waves yielded a semisoluble antigenic preparation.
