Abstract
Summary
After the removal of Tamm and Horsfall mucoid, urinary glycoprotein was precipitated with (NH4)2SO4 at 30%, 60% and 100% saturation. The precipitates were further fractionated on DEAE-cellulose columns with phosphate buffer of increasing concentration and decreasing pH. Sialic acid-rich glycoproteins were later eluted by addition of NaCl. Disc electrophoresis was used for demonstration of the components present. Many components were shown in the (NH4)2 SO4 precipitates. Relatively few components were present in the sialic acid-rich fractions.
