Abstract
Summary
Normally well-tolerated doses of hypertonic NaCl produce extensive tissue necrosis in the rat if administered simultaneously with serotonin or such mast-cell dischargers as dextran, cpd. 48/80 or polymyxin. This predisposition for necrosis is demonstrable only if the conditioning agent is administered during a brief “critical period” simultaneously with or shortly before the hypertonic solution.
