Abstract
Summary
Glyceride triolein-1-14C was fed to bile fistula and sham operated rats which were killed after 4 hours. In the bile fistula animals there was a diminished absorption and decreased lipolysis of the triolein. Analysis of small gut mucosal lipid showed a greater proportion of radioactivity in the FFA and lower glycerides of the bile fistula animals than of the controls. This supports the concept that bile facilitates mucosal esterification of absolrbed long chain fat.
