Summary
Influenza virus will adsorb to powdered magnetic ferric oxide and can be eluted from the iron with appropriate concentrations of sodium phosphate or sodium carbonate. This reaction appears to be a physical adsorption and provides a simple method for concentration and partial purification of viruses.
