Abstract
Summary
Gastrin stimulates the secretion of acid by the isolated gastric mucosa of the bullfrog. The threshold dose is 2.5 × 10-9 M and the maximal secretory response occurs at 2.5 × 10-8 or 2.5 × 10-7 M. Supramaximal doses of gastrin failed to inhibit gastric secretion. Gastrin has no effect on the levels of endogenous mucosal histamine.
