Abstract
Summary
The lipids of the non-gravid and gravid rabbit endometrium were fractionated and analyzed by silicic acid and gas-liquid chromatography. The endometrium of the implantation sites showed lower percentages of total lipids than either the non-gravid or gravid inter-implantation endometrium. The glycerides of the inter-implantation areas were slightly higher than those of the non-gravid endometrium, and also showed higher proportions of the essential fatty acids; the implantation sites contained less glyceride and essential fatty acids than the inter-implantation areas. The data are consistent with the concept of utilization of endometrial glycerides by the developing blastocyst.
