Abstract
Summary
A study was made of the in vitro and in vivo interaction between cholestyramine resin and several commonly used, orally administered drugs. Basic and neutral substances were bound only weakly, if at all, in vitro. Also, many anionic drugs were not strongly bound by cholestyramine, and the gastrointestinal absorption of those drugs which were strongly bound was only moderately delayed by concurrent administration of a single dose of resin.
