Abstract
Summary
Reversal or augmentation by certain amino acids of lysine inhibition of viral replication and cell protein synthesis is related to effects on transport of lysine. Interaction of excess lysine or a metabolic product with the protein-nucleic acid fraction of cells is indicated by observations on C14 labeling. These results plus previous evidence suggest that formation during the eclipse period of a viral precursor is significantly more sensitive to excess lysine than synthesis of cell protein or influenza virus structural protein as represented by hemagglutinin.
