Abstract
Summary
Actinomycin D causes a fall in blood pressure of normotensive and renal hypertensive rats; the reduction of pressure is proportional to the dosage. Giving prednisolone did not restore the pressure but hormonal activity is not blocked since prednisolone protects against a lethal dose of actinomycin D given to adrenalectomized rats. Vigorous arterial pressor response to norepinephrine and methoxamine limits any peripheral arterial effect to tonic rather than phasic contraction.
