Abstract
Summary
Pathological and preclinical stages in the buphthalmic rabbit's eye can be distinguished by the degree of corneal cornification. This is determined by enumeration of cells removed from the intact anesthetized eye. Five normal strains and 2 buphthalmic strains were investigated. The buphthalmics had cell counts significantly higher than those of genetically normal animals. No significant differences were observed either between any of the control strains or between buphthalmic groups.
