Abstract
Summary
Low-molecular-weight fractions of media obtained by Sephadex- or acrylamide-gel filtration successfully support production of staphylocoagulase, diphtheria toxin, and streptococcal erythrogenic toxin. These microbial products are purified by subsequent removal of the medium and undesired products on the identical gel columns used to prepare the media. Gel-filtered media are more cheaply and easily prepared than are some synthetic media, or medium dialyzates.
