Abstract
Summary
Injections of aldosterone produced moderate, but significant, elevation of blood pressure in normotensive rats. A comparable elevation of blood pressure was noted in rats with existing renal hypertension produced by unilateral renal artery constriction. JGI and ZGI were decreased in kidneys and adrenals from both aldosterone-treated groups. These findings are interpreted to indicate the indirect role of aldosterone in regulating renin production. Aldosterone failed to influence the vascular lesions of renal hypertension.
