Abstract
Summary
Live measles and smallpox vaccines were titrated in susceptible children by jet inoculation and conventional vaccination techniques. Measles vaccine potency results in man were similar by both inoculation methods and comparable to results obtained in cell culture assays. Smallpox vaccine potency as measured by cutaneous reactivity was about 10-fold greater in jet-inoculated children than in those inoculated percutane-ously. However, jet injection of high dilutions of vaccinia virus commonly resulted in sero-conversion in the absence of a local skin lesion.
