Abstract
Summary
Considerable hemolytic activity has been found to be associated with the cells of some isolates of L. pomona. Purification of the hemolytic factor by acetone precipitation of a phosphate buffer soluble portion of the sonicated L. pomona cells increased the activity per mg of protein 15 times. The 25-30% acetone fraction was found to migrate as a single moiety using paper electro-phoresis.
