Summary
Hypophysectomy delayed the recovery of electrical activity of crushed sciatic nerves in adult female rats. Administration of somatotrophic hormones, thyroxine, or testosterone propionate resulted in significant improvement in rate of recovery and accelerated it beyond that seen in the intact controls. When combination of hormones were given, a further acceleration of this effect was observed. The influence of cortisone acetate was equivocal.
