Monkeys in whom erythro-poiesis was suppressed (post hypoxic) showed a significant reticulocyte response to administration of erythropoietin of rabbit, sheep or human origin. These results indicate that erythropoietin of primate origin is not required for stimulation of erythropoiesis in primates.
