Abstract
Summary
A specific reaction for phenylalanine has been applied after chromatographic separation of amino acids from urine, serum and blood specimens of phenylketo-nuric patients. This reaction is demonstrated by means of photographs of the actual chro-matograms obtained.
The authors are indebted to Dr. D. R. Gunn, Director of Clinical Research, Ontario Hospital, Toronto, and to Dr. H. F. Frank, Supt, Ontario Hospital, Smiths Falls, Ont, for supplying some of the phenyl-ketonuric whole blood, serum and urine specimens. Thanks are also due to Mr. B. Czap, Kopp Clinical Laboratories Ltd., Ottawa, for supplying fresh normal pooled blood, pooled serum and urine samples.
