Abstract
Summary
Data are presented demonstrating that a dietary lithocholic acid level of 0.1% is sufficient to induce bile ductule proliferation in the livers of chicks and associated elevations in plasma cholesterol, lipid phosphorus and β-lipoprotein levels. The effects of dietary lithocholic acid were more severe with dietary levels above 0.10%. Body weight was decreased in chicks fed 0.15% or higher levels of lithocholic acid.
