Summary
The pentose pathway is the main route for carbohydrate oxidation in Past. multocida as demonstrated by C14 distribution after oxidation of labeled glucose, and the activity of the respective enzymes in cell free extracts from the organism. The Krebs cycle operates as a supplementary oxidative mechanism. Glucose carbon is also utilized for synthesis of amino acids.
