Abstract
Summary
Iodine content of trout tissues is directly related to dietary and/or habitat water levels of iodine. With ample iodide in the water (10 μg/l), trout can extract iodide directly from water and maintain tissue iodine levels comparable to those of sea-run trout. High PBI levels were correlated with high plasma inorganic iodide. An isotopic equilibrium method was applied to estimate the iodine content of trout tissues.
