Abstract
Summary
Endogenous pyrogen (EP) and lysozyme concentrations in serum paralleled one another when dogs were challenged with varying doses of endotoxin, were made tolerant to the action of the toxin, and were given endotoxin along with aminopyrine, adrenal steroids, and hypothermia. Despite these biologic parallels, there is no evidence that endogenous pyrogen and lysozyme are the same biochemical substance.
