Summary

Past. multocida synthesizes de novo nucleic acid components. Purine and pyrimidine bases incorporate the radioactive carbon from formate-C¹⁴, glycine-2-C¹⁴, pyruvate-2-C¹⁴ and glucose-6-C¹⁴ as substrates. Adenine and guanine incorporate adenine-8-C¹⁴. Nucleic acids take up phosphate-P³² at a higher rate during cell proliferation. Chloramphenicol produces an apparent stimulation of nucleic acids synthesis and simultaneously, an effective inhibition of protein synthesis.
