Abstract
Summary
Past. multocida synthesizes de novo nucleic acid components. Purine and pyrimidine bases incorporate the radioactive carbon from formate-C14, glycine-2-C14, pyruvate-2-C14 and glucose-6-C14 as substrates. Adenine and guanine incorporate adenine-8-C14. Nucleic acids take up phosphate-P32 at a higher rate during cell proliferation. Chloramphenicol produces an apparent stimulation of nucleic acids synthesis and simultaneously, an effective inhibition of protein synthesis.
