Summary
A fraction which rapidly detoxifies bacterial endotoxin has been prepared from normal dog spleen. The detoxifying system is thermolabile, precipitable with ammonium sulfate, completely inactivated by trypsin and by tetraethyl pyrophosphate. These findings suggest that the active component is a protein with the properties of an esterase type of enzyme.
