Summary
Trace amounts of iron and cobalt are separated and quantitatively recovered from biological specimens using Dowex-1 columns. The procedure for digesting the protein and preparing the samples is given in detail. Recovery values for 72 samples using Co57 and Fe59 as tracers are tabulated. Excellent recovery and reproducibility are achieved.
