Abstract
Summary
Renographic studies with o-iodohippurate-I131 were performed on 21 dogs before and after the onset of hypertension experimentally induced by constricting the renal artery. Sixteen of the dogs tolerated the constriction of the artery and showed no changes in the renographic findings. Five animals died from severe renal damage following surgical procedures; renograms of these 5 animals demonstrated reduced renal function.
The radioisotope renogram may not show any abnormality in the presence of experimental renal hypertension.
