Abstract
Summary
Cortisol treatment of Tilapia mossambica (Teleostei Cichlidae) for 7 days resulted in no splenic atrophy; similar treatment for 21 days resulted in significant hypertrophy. A notable proliferation of phagocytic cells occurred in the spleen, head kidney, and hepatopancreas. Such changes did not occur after deoxycorticosterone administration.
