Abstract
Summary
It has been demonstrated that contact-scleral-filters can be placed in the bird's eyes and remain for relatively long periods of time (up to 6 months), with no apparent damage to the eyes; by this means, the bird is exposed continuously to the spectral range transmitted by the filter. The wearing time decreases appreciably if the cornea is scratched during fitting or if the filters are too large in diameter or too thick.
