Summary
Orally given proteolytic enzymes appear to antagonize 3 bradykinin physiologic responses: hypotension, smooth muscle contraction and enhanced capillary permeability. Whether these observations relate to anti-inflammatory activity of orally given proteolytic enzymes requires further study.
