Summary
Twelve mouse colonies in Japan were surveyed for polyoma virus infection. Among them, one colony was found to be infected with polyoma virus, half of the tested mice from that colony being antibody-positive. The infected mouse strains all came originally from the United States, and it is thought that they may have acquired latent infection before being brought into Japan.
