Abstract
Summary
2,6-Diaminopurine (DAP) was shown to stimulate appreciably glucose utilization and lactic acid production of KB cell cultures. These effects, as well as cytotoxicity of DAP, were antagonized by adenine, adenosine, hypoxanthine, and inosine, but not by guanine and guanosine. DAP potentiated cytotoxicity of 2-deoxy-D-glucose and hadacidin as was observed previously for certain other compounds which stimulated glucose utilization and lactic acid production.
