Abstract
Summary
The radioprotective agents AET, cysteamine and MEG largely prevented the occurrence of foot deformities and a defect in gait (which was unrelated to the foot abnormalities) in the young of rats exposed to a single dose of 150 r total body x-irradiation on the 14th day of pregnancy. These substances also prevented in part the occurrence of an abnormality in development of the cerebral hemispheres of such young but were without significant effect in altering an attendant reduction in the ratio of brain to body weight.
