Abstract
Summary
Circadian periodicity in the mitotic activity of the surface and mucous neck cells of the gastric mucosa of rats persisted following adrenalectomy. Also, adrenalectomy caused a significant increase in the mitotic index of surface cells during both the day and night, while the mitotic index of mucous neck cells was increased only during the night. The most significant elevation in proliferative activity occurred during the afternoon, the least during the morning.
