Abstract
Summary
Prechallenge properdin levels were not significantly different in 35 vaccinated or non-vaccinated volunteers who did or did not become ill after respiratory challenge with P. tularensis. No change was observed in properdin levels after infection in 4 volunteers so studied. P. tularensis was not sensitive to the properdin system in vitro. It would appear that the properdin system is not involved in immunity of humans to tularemia.
