Abstract
Summary
The oxygen consumption of 32 Philippine tree-shrews was 0.87 ± 0.02 ec/g body wt/hr (mean and standard error). Expressed as Standard Metabolic Rate, this represented 29.7 ± 0.8 Cal/sq m body surface/hr, a value corresponding to that of laboratory rats of comparable weight and maturity. No sex difference was observed.
