Abstract
Summary
Inactivation of SV40 with formaldehyde followed a biphasic curve with a levelling off after about 40 hours at 37°C leaving a residual fraction of virus which was resistant to further inactivation for the remainder of the 14-day observation period. Viable SV40 was detected in some lots of formalinized poliomyelitis and adenovirus vaccines.
