Abstract
Summary
Nephrectomized dogs respond to third degree burns with much less increase in 17 OHCS secretion than do normal dogs. ACTH injection also produces much less increase in 17 OHCS secretion in nephrectomized than in normal dogs. These diminished responses appear to result from decreased adrenal sensitivity to ACTH. It is suggested that the kidney plays an important role in the control of 17 OHCS secretion.
