Abstract
Summary
An inhibitor with the properties of interferon obtained from harvests of Sindbis virus inhibits the infectivity of po–liovirus RNA in chick embryo cell cultures. This inhibition is expressed by a reduction of cell infection as well as total poliovirus production. These results are compatible with the concept that interferon inhibits certain intracellular metabolic activities necessary for virus synthesis.
