Abstract
Summary
Addition of oleyl alcohol to a pancreatic extract capable of cholesterol esterification resulted in esterification of the aliphatic alcohol and stimulation of cholesterol esterification. Correspondingly, the extent of the oleyl alcohol reaction was greater in presence of cholesterol. Some possible relationships of the findings to in vivo processes are discussed.
