Abstract
Summary
Benzydroflumethiazide and hydrochlorothiazide did not have any effect on plasma sodium or potassium levels when administered intravenously to acute nephrectomized dogs. These results indicate that under the conditions described benzydroflumethiazide and hydrochlorothiazide do not have an extrarenal effect on sodium or potassium which could explain the mechanism of their antihypertensive action.
