Abstract
Summary
Normal human serum contains a heat-labile, non-dialyzable, ammonium-sulfate precipitable euglobulin fraction that inhibited growth of Sarcoma 180 cells in vivo. This component was found to be active between pH 5-9 and required no divalent cations. Schizophrenic serum was also found to be inhibitory to Sarcoma 180 cells. Sera of individuals with blood dyscrasias failed to protect mice against tumor development.
