Abstract
Summary
Transport of radio-iron and radio-B12 from the intestinal wall to the blood was studied in 2 dogs with cannulated thoracic ducts. Most of both substances was directly transferred into the blood without going via the lymph. Since large molecules are generally absorbed via lymph, this indicates that the large B12-intrinsic factor is split in the intestinal wall prior to transfer.
