Abstract
Summary
Three mutants were isolated from a single strain of Staphylococcus aureus of known virulence for rabbits. Two mutants, one lacking the soluble type of coagulase and the other lacking the bound type of coagulase, were still virulent for rabbits. The third mutant which produced both kinds of coagulase had lost its virulence for rabbits.
