Abstract
Summary
Unusually large amounts of α-ketoglutarate were excreted in the urines of strain 129 mice as compared with other species of animals and other strains of mice. A group of 5 muscular dystrophic strain 129 mice excreted significantly higher levels of α-ketoglutarate and urea/gram weight than did their 5 littermate controls. These differences became greater as the disease progressed from weaning through about 4 months of age. No significant differences were observed in urinary excretion of amino acids, either with regard to type or amount.
