Abstract
Summary
A ninhydrin positive, lipid bound factor chromatographically identified as glutamic acid has been found in the organic solvent extract of human plasma alpha and beta lipoproteins. This factor is grossly deficient (p<0.006) in plasma of the aging, arteriosclerotic subject and has an abnormal distribution pattern between alpha and beta lipoproteins of the pathological patient. This deficiency of lipid bound glutamic acid may be related to a defective blood coagulation system of the human arteriosclerotic.
